Due to the increasing emission reduction requirements most exhaust systems comprise more than one aftertreatment components communicating with each other by a connecting pipe. The connecting pipes are sometimes insulated or double-walled to reduce the heat losses to ambient.

To enable simulation of complete exhaust lines, axiheat is the software module which calculates the heat transfer phenomena occurring in the connecting pipes.  

In addition, axiheat is able to calculate the heat release/absorption phenomena associated with the injection of hydrocarbons or urea solutions in the exhaust gas. This calculation takes into account the physical evaporation phenomena, as well as the homogeneous reaction rates (e.g. HC oxidation).


The injection of multicomponent gaseous mixtures is also supported.

axiheat takes into account the effect of droplet deposition on the inner surface of the pipe wall, which leads to the formation of the wall film.
